Dylan Farrow slams Scarlett Johansson over Woody Allen comments

Dylan Farrow has reacted to Scarlett Johansson's headline-making defense of Woody Allen. In her first tweet in nearly a year, Farrow — who accused the director of molesting her at age 7 — slammed the actress for her out of touch remarks.

"Because if we’ve learned anything from the past two years it’s that you definitely should believe male predators who 'maintain their innocence' without question," Farrow, the adopted daughter of Allen and Mia Farrow, wrote.

When talking with The Hollywood Reporter, Johansson said she would happily work with Allen again.

"How do I feel about Woody Allen? I love Woody," the 37-year-old Avengers star declared. Allen directed Johansson in Match Point (2005), Scoop (2006) and 2008's Vicky Cristina Barcelona. "I believe him, and I would work with him anytime."

It's a stark contrast to the majority of actors and actresses — including Timothée Chalamet, Colin Firth, Greta Gerwig, Evan Rachel Wood and Ellen Page — who expressed regret over working with the director. The sexual abuse allegations against Allen resurfaced in the #MeToo era. He has maintained his innocence.

Johansson, the highest-paid actress in the world, continued, "I see Woody whenever I can, and I have had a lot of conversations with him about it. I have been very direct with him, and he’s very direct with me. He maintains his innocence, and I believe him."

The remarks were a hot topic on Thursday's episode of “The View” and Farrow was equally upset with how it was covered. She tweeted it was "surprising" no one on the show "mentioned that the prosecutor in my case, after evaluating ALL the evidence, found probable cause to press criminal charges against Woody." Farrow noted that the prosecutor declined to pursue charges "in order to spare me further trauma." She also slammed Joy Behar for defending Allen while thanking Sunny Hostin for "pushing back."

"When somebody is accused of such a heinous crime as child molestation, you say to yourself, ‘What do I believe?’" Behar, who has worked with Allen, said on the show. She cited the "evidence" that Allen has said exonerates him.

"I'm not defending Woody's behavior with Soon-Yi — that was deplorable," Behar said, referring to Farrow's adopted daughter whom Allen married. "It's creepy, but it's not a crime. She was over 18, apparently, when he married her, but this, with the little girl, I mean he has been exonerated by the experts."

Hostin, a former sex crimes prosecutor, pushed back on the exoneration claims. “The View” co-host pointed to the fact Farrow has not changed her story for decades and how some details were corroborated by her brother, journalist Ronan Farrow. Hostin also pointed out how a judge "found that [Dylan] had to be protected against his advances towards her." She was referring to Justice Elliott Wilk's 1993 ruling which stated, "We will probably never know what occurred on August 4, 1992... [but] Mr. Allen’s behavior toward Dylan was grossly inappropriate and... measures must be taken to protect her."

Allen is currently in a legal battle with Amazon Studios. Earlier this year, he sued the company for $68 million for breach of contract after his four-movie deal was terminated. Allen is apparently refusing to turn over documents relating to Farrow amid the lawsuit.
